Empty Places
Iceland is a place of extremes, it is a land shaped by volcanic activity and carved by glaciers. The landscape is painfully desolate yet is full of raw, fierce energy. Most of the country is devoid of human presence or trees, leaving vast open spaces that fills you with a sense of loneliness.
In this land of severe weather, it is possible to experience sun, rain, hail, and sun in a matter of an hour. Any manmade structure that is not constantly maintained by human hands is quickly dissolved and consumed by the elements. The recent economic collapse has resulted in many orphaned buildings that show the wear and tear of abandonment.
